Cajeput--Botanical Name: Melaleuca leucadendron. Origin: Australia. Description: It is said to aid with throat/lung/sinus infections, urinary tract infections, coughs, and intestinal problems. Research has shown that it has properties of being antibacterial, anti-parasitic, antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory, and analgesic.
Cinnamon (Bark)--Botanical Name: Cinnamomum verum. Origin: Sri Lanka, Madagascar, Ceylon. Description: Said to aid with cardiovascular disease, infectious diseases, viral infections, digestive complaints, ulcers, and warts. Research has shown it has properties of being anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, anticoagulant, a circulatory stimulant, a stomach protectant, and anti-parasitic.
Citronella--Botanical Name: Cymbopogon Winterianus. Origin: Java. Description: Commonly used as an insect repellant for mosquitoes and fleas, but it also helps with excessive perspiration when applied topically, and fatigue when inhaled. The principal chemical components of Citronella, geraniol and citronellol, are antiseptics. Research has also determined that Citronella essential oil has strong antifungal properties and is effective in calming excitable dogs.
Clary Sage--Botanical Name: Salvia Sclarea. Origin: United States. Description: Viewed by aromatherapists as an antidepressant, antispasmodic, deodorant, and more. It is well known for providing a euphoric action, for balancing uterine issues, and as an agent to clean greasy hair. There is also some documentation of its effectiveness in helping to relax the spasms of asthma.
Clove Bud--Botanical Name: Eugenia caryophyllata. Origin: Indonesia. Description: Clove Bud oil has a spicy, pleasant aroma. It is warm, sweet, peppery, strong, and candy-like.
It is said that Clove Bud oil is good for arthritis, asthma, bronchitis, rheumatism, sprains, strains, and toothaches.
Copaiba Balsam--Botanical Name: Copaifera officinalis. Origin: Brazil. Description: Copaiba Balsam has been known to be a powerful anti-inflammatory, mucolytic, anti-ulcer, and antiseptic.
Egyptian Geranium--Botanical Name: Pelargonium Graveolens. Origin: Egypt. Description: Used for centuries for regenerating and healing skin conditions. Its fragrance--sweet and feminine--is said to help release negative memories, balance emotions, ease nervous tension, and lift spirits. Research has shown it to be antispasmodic, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antifungal; it may help improve blood flow, cleanse oily skin, and revitalize skin cells.
Elemi--Botanical Name: Canarium luzonicum. Origin: Philippines. Description: Used for centuries to aid with muscle/nerve pain, skin problems (scars, acne, wrinkles), can be grounding. and used to clear the mind. Research has shown it to be antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antiseptic.
Eucalyptus--Botanical Name: Eucalyptus globulus. Origin: Australia. Description: Eucalyptus oil has a clean, camphoraceous scent with nostril-opening intensity. It is said to aid in respiratory/sinus infections, has been used as a decongestant, helps reduce rheumatism/arthritis symptoms, and soothes sore muscles. Research has shown it to be an expectorant, mycolytic, antimicrobial, antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, and it may have anti-aging properties.
Fennel--Botanical Name: Foeniculum vulgare. Origin: Hungary. Description: Earthy, sweet, licorice (anise)-like aroma. It is stimulating to the glandular, circulatory, respiratory, and digestive systems. Research has shown it to be antiseptic, antispasmodic, and analgesic, and may be used for fluid retention, menopause and peri-menopause symptoms, balancing hormones, constipation, indigestion, and more.
Frankincense--Botanical Name: Boswellia carteri. Origin: Somalia, Spain. Description: Used for centuries to treat depression, cancer, respiratory infections, inflammation, and stimulating the immune system. Research has shown it to be anti-tumoral, an immune-stimulant, antidepressant, and a muscle relaxant. May also increase spiritual awareness, promote meditation, improve attitude, and uplift the spirit.
Grapefruit--Botanical Name: Citrus paradise. Origin: South Africa and California, USA. Description: Has been used to treat Alzheimers, fluid retention, depression, obesity, liver disorders, anxiety, and cellulite. Research has shown it to be anti-tumoral, a metabolic stimulant, antiseptic, detoxifying, diuretic, fat-dissolving, cleansing for kidneys, lymphatic and vascular system, and an antidepressant.
Hyssop--Botanical Name: Hyssopus officinalis. Origin: France, Hungary. Description: The aroma may stimulate creativity and aid with meditation. Has been used for respiratory infections/congestion, parasites, viral infections, and circulatory disorders. Research has shown it to be mucolytic, a decongestant, anti-inflammatory, regulating lipid metabolism, antiviral, antibacterial, and anti-parasitic.
Italian Bergamot--Botanical Name: Citrus bergamia (Bergaptene-free). Origin: Italy. Description: Fresh, sweet, fruity, spicy, Bergamot smells wonderful and research has shown it to be calming, provide hormonal support, antibacterial, and antidepressant. Please note: You should avoid sunlight and tanning following application of Bergamot on your skin.
Juniper Berry--Botanical Name: Juniperus osteosperma. Origin: Utah, USA. Description: May be used to aid skin conditions, liver problems, urinary/bladder infections, and fluid retention; its fragrance may evoke feelings of health, love, and peace and may help to elevate one's spiritual awareness. Research has shown it to be antiseptic, a digestive cleanser/stimulant, purifying, detoxifying, able to increase circulation through the kidneys and promote excretion of toxins, and it promotes nerve regeneration.
Lavender--Botanical Name: Lavandula augustifolia. Origin: France. Description: Calming, relaxing, and balancing, both physically and emotionally; may be used for respiratory infections, high blood pressure, arteriosclerosis, menstrual problems/PMS, skin conditions, burns, hair loss, insomnia, and nervous tension. Research has found it to be antiseptic, antifungal, analgesic, anti-tumoral, anticonvulsant, vasodilating, relaxant, anti-inflammatory, reduces blood fat/cholesterol, combats excess sebum on skin.
Lemon--Botanical Name: Citrus Limonium. Origin: California, USA. Description: The aroma is similar to fresh lemon rinds, except richer and more concentrated. Lemon has been used for centuries to aid with circulatory problems, arteriosclerosis, obesity, parasites, urinary tract infections, varicose veins, anxiety, hypertension, digestive problems, and acne. Research has shown it has properties of being anti-tumoral, antiseptic, may improve microcirculation, and be an immune stimulant; it may improve memory and help one relax.
Lemongrass--Botanical Name: Cymbopogon flexuosus. Origin: India, Guatemala. Description: The aroma may promote psychic awareness and purification; the oil has been used for bladder infections, respiratory/sinus infections, digestive problems, parasites, torn ligaments/muscles, fluid retention, varicose veins, and Salmonella. Research has shown it to be antifungal, antibacterial, anti-parasitic, anti-inflammatory, regenerating connective tissues and ligaments, dilating blood vessels, improving circulation, and promoting lymph flow.
Nutmeg--Botanical Name: Myristica fragrans. Origin: Tunisia, Indonesia. Description: Has been used to aid with rheumatism/arthritis, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, hepatitis, ulcers, digestive disorders, nerve pain, fatigue/exhaustion, and neuropathy. Also may help the adrenal glands to increase energy. Research has shown it to be anti-inflammatory, anti-coagulant, antiseptic, anti-parasitic, analgesic, a liver protectant, stomach protectant, circulatory protectant, adrenal stimulant, muscle relaxant, and may increase production of growth hormone/melatonin.
Palmarosa--Botanical Name: Cymbopogon martini. Origin: India. Description: May create a feeling of security, reduce feelings of stress, and promote recovery from nervous exhaustion. Has been used for fungal infections/Candida, cardiovascular/circulatory diseases, digestive problems, and skin problems. Research has shown it to be antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, support the heart and nervous system, stimulate new skin cell growth, and regulate sebum production in skin.
Patchouli--Botanical Name: Pogostemon cablin. Origin: Indonesia. Description: Aroma has been found to be a relaxant that clarifies thoughts, allowing the discarding of jealousies, obsession, and insecurities. Has been used to aid hypertension, skin conditions, and fluid retention. Research has shown it to be a digestive aid that combats nausea, anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, and that it may prevent wrinkles/chapped skin and relieve itching.
Peppermint--Botanical Name: Mentha piperita. Origin: North America, Mediterranean area. Description: Purifying and stimulating to the conscious mind. Has been used for rheumatism/arthritis, respiratory infections, digestive problems, headaches, nausea, and skin conditions. Research has shown it to be anti-inflammatory, anti-tumoral, anti-parasitic, antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, a gallbladder/digestive stimulant, pain reliever, and may aid in curbing appetite.
Rosemary--Botanical Name: Rosmarinus officinalis. Origin: Morocco, Spain. Description: Aroma may help overcome mental fatigue, and improve mental clarity and focus. Has been used for liver conditions/hepatitis, throat/lung infections, hair loss (alopecia areata), impaired memory/Alzheimers. Research has shown it to be liver-protecting, anti-tumoral, antibacterial, anti-parasitic, and it may enhance mental clarity/concentration.
Spearmint--Botanical Name: Mentha spicata. Origin: Utah, USA; China. Description: The aroma may open and release emotional blocks and bring about a feeling of balance and a lasting sense of well-being. Has been used for intestinal/digestive disorders, hepatitis, and obesity. Research has shown that it may increase metabolism, be anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, mucolytic, a gallbladder stimulant, and a digestive aid.
Tangerine--Botanical Name: Citrus reticulata. Origin: Brazil. Description: The aroma may promote happiness, calming, and help with anxiety and nervousness. Has been used for obesity, anxiety, insomnia, irritability, liver problems, digestive problems, parasites, and fluid retention. Research has shown it to be anti-tumoral, a relaxant, antispasmodic, a digestive aid, and a circulatory enhancer.
Tea Tree (Melaleuca)--Botanical Name: Melaleuca alternifolia. Origin: Australia, France. Description: Has been used for fungal infections, tooth and gum disease, water retention/hypertension, and skin conditions. Research has shown it to be highly antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, anti-parasitic, anti-inflammatory; regarded as an antimicrobial and antiseptic Essential Oil.
Thyme--Botanical Name: Thymus vulgaris. Origin: Mediterranean area. Description: Aroma may be beneficial in helping to overcome fatigue and exhaustion after illness. Has been used to treat infectious diseases, cardiovascular disease, Alzheimers, and hepatitis. Research has shown it to be anti-aging, highly antimicrobial, antifungal, antiviral, and anti-parasitic. PLEASE NOTE: May irritate the nasal membranes or skin if inhaled directly or applied neat (undiluted).
Wintergreen--Botanical Name: Gaultheria procumbens. Origin: China, North America. Description: Aroma may stimulate and increase awareness in all levels of the sensory system. Has been used to aid with arthritis/rheumatism, muscle/nerve pain, hypertension, arteriosclerosis, and hepatitis/fatty liver. Research has shown it to be an anti-coagulant, antispasmodic, highly anti-inflammatory, a vasodilator, analgesic/anesthetic, it may reduce blood pressure and all types of pain. Its principal constituent is Methyl Salicylate, which has been used in various linaments and ointments. PLEASE NOTE: Avoid use if epileptic. Do not use with aspirin, as Wintergreen's anticoagulant properties can be enhanced.
Ylang Ylang--Botanical Name: Cananga odorata. Origin: Commoro. Description: The aroma may balance male-female energies, enhance spiritual attunement, increases focus, restores confidence and peace. Has been used for cardiac arrhythmia, cardiac problems, anxiety, hypertension, depression, hair loss, and intestinal problems. Research has shown it to be antispasmodic, vasodilating, anti-diabetic, anti-inflammatory, anti-parasitic, and to regulate heartbeat.
